About the role

Work safely at all times, be aware of surroundings, and understand and comply with Pratt Industries Safety rules, operating procedures. Participate in Plant Safety Committee and help hold co-workers responsible for safety-related items. Follow Good Manufacturing Processes (GMPs) and comply with Pratt Industries quality procedures and policies to prevent bad quality from reaching the customer.

Responsibilities

  • Perform general duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Maintain housekeeping and clean work areas, including break rooms, bathrooms, and refrigerators, to eliminate tripping hazards.
  • Move various sized units and products between staging areas.
  • Maintain accurate records of unit locations for inventory accuracy.
  • Perform basic forklift equipment maintenance.
  • Adhere to the production schedule.
  • Work overtime as necessary, including short notice, holidays, and weekends.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Must be Pratt forklift certified (previous Pratt and/or two years’ forklift operation preferred).
  • Experience with scanner or barcode warehouse management inventory systems preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Experience driving and operating a forklift.
  • Pass substance abuse screening according to company policy.
  • High degree of attention and control to prevent damage to materials and equipment.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience in packaging, plastics, paper, converting, warehouse, or manufacturing industries.

Skills

  • Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume, and rate.
  • Ability to apply concepts of high school math.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Working knowledge of equipment design, product layouts, production specifications, and quality standards.

Physical Demands

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, or hear.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Will be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.
