About the role
Sierra Pacific Industries is a fourth‑generation family‑owned company based in Northern California that started in 1949 and has grown to be one of the largest lumber and millwork producers in the United States, employing around 6,500 crew members. The company owns and sustainably manages more than 2.4 million acres of timberland in California, Oregon, and Washington under a 100‑year plan by Registered Professional Foresters, Wildlife Biologists, Botanists, and other professionals. Over 6 million new trees are planted each year, and the 300‑millionth seedling was planted in Spring 2024. Sierra Pacific uses nearly 100% of every piece of wood, converting residuals into electricity at eight biomass‑fueled power plants, and maintains drug‑free, tobacco‑free workplaces. The Sonora Forestry District has an opening for a District Forester to manage timberlands in Calaveras and Tuolumne counties, working with California Registered Professional Foresters to prepare harvest plans and administer harvest operations, with the successful applicant based in the district office in Sonora, California.
