Responsibilities

  • Maintain proficiency in all principle duties of a Forensic Scientist I.
  • Assist in troubleshooting of all analytical test methods and/or instrumentation utilized in the area of responsibility.
  • Actively participate in development and implementation of process improvements within the area of responsibility.
  • Participate in periodic or new method validation.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities.
  • Notify Supervisor and/or Group Lead of equipment or production problems.
  • Capable of applying laboratory acceptance criteria in the interpretation of test results.
  • Assist with oversight and training of department employees as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Required Work Experience: Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years laboratory experience.
  • Physical And Mental Requirements: Ability to perform routine and repetitive motions, such as pipetting. Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.
  • Knowledge: Knowledge of methods and procedures used by the laboratory. Previous experience troubleshooting comparable instrumentation and/or methods.
  • Skills: General PC knowledge and data analysis.
  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree Bachelor of Science or Art degree with a minimum of fifteen (15) semester hours in Chemistry, fifteen (15) semester hours in Biology, and three (3) semester hours of Mathematics; or applicable regulatory requirements.

About the Role

This position works within the Forensic Toxicology Laboratory and has analytical, equipment and data interpretation responsibilities, and may release non-chromatographic results.
