Forensic Interview Specialist (DL) - Kauai

About the role

The Forensic Interview Specialist (DL) position involves conducting developmentally appropriate, video-recorded forensic interviews of alleged child abuse victims and/or child witnesses to crimes. They also testify in court, provide training and consultation in forensic interviews, assist with coordination of child abuse cases, and perform other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Conducts video-recorded forensic interviews of alleged child abuse victims and/or child witnesses to crimes.
• Testifies in court regarding forensic interviews and case outcomes.
• Provides training and consultation in forensic interviewing techniques.
• Aids in coordinating child abuse cases.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current and valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle.

Qualifications

• Education: Baccalaureate degree in psychology, child development, social work, criminal justice, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Specialized Experience: Two and one-half (2-1/2) years of progressively responsible professional child interviewing experience.

• Ability to write clearly and comprehensively reports and analyses.
• Read and interpret complex written material.

• Solve complex problems logically and systematically.
• Present interview findings in a clear and concise manner.
• Testify in court in a credible and effective manner.
