About the role
The Forensic Interview Specialist conducts specialized, developmentally sensitive, and legally sound forensic interviews of children and vulnerable adults using the nationally recognized NICHD Protocol. This role collaborates with a Multidisciplinary Team including law enforcement, DCFS, prosecutors, and medical providers to ensure interview practices meet rigorous standards.
Responsibilities
- Utilize the NICHD Protocol to conduct accurate, trauma-informed forensic interviews.
- Collaborate with a Multidisciplinary Team to ensure interview practices withstand scrutiny in both investigative and judicial settings.
- Participate in weekly case staffing, monthly MDT case reviews, and statewide peer reviews to maintain the highest standard of quality assurance.
- Maintain meticulous case documentation and manage recordings under strict evidentiary standards.
- Provide professional courtroom testimony regarding protocol adherence when subpoenaed.
Requirements
- A Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, child development, criminal justice, behavioral science, or a closely related field.
- Three (3) years of professional experience in child welfare, criminal justice, forensic interviewing, victim services, or behavioral health.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience will also be considered.
Qualifications
- A valid Utah driver's license.
- Pass a background check.
- Be prepared to complete a nationally recognized NICHD forensic interview training program within six (6) months of hire.
