Responsibilities
- Receive and conduct inventory of all materials entering job site.
- Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, tool rooms, supply rooms, or laydown areas.
- Complete checks and balance of all packing slips; verify accuracy of information, ensure data has been inventoried, and submit to materials clerk prior to close of business.
- Unpack distributed equipment and materials; store in appropriate location until issued.
- Notify appropriate department when ordered equipment and materials arrive (deliver equipment/materials to department if required).
- Maintain inventory control through continuous tracking and conducting a percentage of inventory monthly.
- Use identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment to mark all goods.
- Clean and maintain supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
- Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities.
- Keep records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock handling equipment.
- Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects; report any damage to Materials Manager.
- Provide aid and directions to other toolroom, warehouse, and materials staff.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience working in a warehouse.
- 2+ years of experience working for an industrial construction project in a warehouse or equivalent material handler position.
- Working knowledge of basic processes and equipment used in new construction.
- Organized with the ability to complete accurate inventory of items received, issued, and transferred.
- Good communication skills, including the ability to read and write effectively.
- Familiarity with basic computer operations (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Ability to follow directions and pay attention to detail.
- Ability to train, advise, and mentor direct reports.
Preferred Qualifications
- Current Zachry employee, Zachry ROF’ed employee, or former employee of another construction project.
- Previous experience working with Zachry Industrial, Inc. or another construction project.
- Previous experience as a Foreman or above with Zachry Industrial, Inc. or another construction project.
Physical Requirements
- Adhere to large amounts of standing, walking, bending, squatting, sitting, and lifting.
- Communicate through talking and hearing.
- Use arms and hands to signal, grab, hold, turn, push, and pull objects, materials, controls, and tools.
- May be required to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
- Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms/scaffolding using appropriate fall protection.
- Work in all weather conditions (heat, rain, cold, wind) while wearing appropriate PPE.
- Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) including hard hat, safety glasses/goggles, ear plugs, masks/respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and leather steel-toed work boots.
