Foreman - Transmission (Duke)

About the role

The Foreman position involves the construction, maintenance, and repair of electrical transmission systems. This role may require occasional travel to other states based on customer demands.

Responsibilities

• Works safely while performing new construction, maintenance or repair work of energized and de-energized work.
• Coaches crew members and leads training in safe and productive work procedures.
• Conducts pre-job or tailgate briefings and troubleshoots problems in primary and secondary systems.
• Strings overhead wire, sets poles and anchors, installs transformers, lightning arrestors, cutouts, crossarms, insulators, switches, and switchgear.
• Maintains company vehicles, equipment, and tools in good working order.
• Performs rigorous physical labor and identifies primary and secondary voltage on a circuit.
• Understands and applies grounding procedures, climbing techniques, and proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Safely performs tasks such as reconductoring, installing and removing mechanical jumpers, and using a load bust tool.
• Identifies and locates puller and tensioner setups, understands flag and tag procedures, and operates equipment safely.
• Works outside in various weather conditions and frequently in inclement weather.

Requirements

• Coordinates and inspects the work of crew members.
• Able to travel long distances on short notice and work for extended periods in various locations.
• Able to lift in excess of 50 lbs and properly inspect rubber goods and PPE.
• Complies with company safety rules and policies.
• Willing to work over-time when requested.

Qualifications

• CDL and demonstrates safe driving.
• Working knowledge of leadership and management skills.
• Familiarity with induced voltage and proper sag wire installation.
• Understanding of grounding procedures and how to safely operate equipment.
• Ability to plan safe work based on a job print or work order.
• Knowledge of line protection devices and how to use a load bust tool.
• Capable of identifying and locating puller and tensioner setups.
• Understanding of flag and tag procedures.
• Capable of safely performing a reconductoring job.
• Capable of safely installing and removing mechanical jumpers.
• Understanding of how to phase out a line using phasing sticks.
• Capable of working at heights and/or confined spaces.
