Foreman (Midwest Region)

About the role

The Foreman leads the crew and operates equipment necessary to install various utilities and associated units to complete projects. Responsibilities include supervising and assisting with all aspects of projects, such as safety, team management, equipment operation, field paperwork, training, and occasional labor duties.

Responsibilities

• Meet or exceed all safety, quality, and productivity requirements for assigned projects.
• Lead, direct, and mentor crews to ensure on-time completion while meeting financial and non-financial objectives.
• Manage staffing, including recruiting new talent, retaining employees, and promoting career advancement.
• Handle employee relations, including recognition, discipline, and performance evaluations.
• Recommend subcontractors for approval and initiate training/cross-training for personnel.
• Oversee daily scheduling and take corrective action to meet deadlines.
• Monitor project performance for productivity, safety, and quality, resolving issues as needed.
• Review and approve employee timecards and complete production reports daily.
• Perform daily preventative maintenance on construction equipment and report issues to the Fleet Manager.
• Report equipment hours, miles, and other details to the Fleet Manager weekly.
• Adhere to company, manufacturer, OSHA, and industry safety standards and procedures.
• Establish positive working relationships with crew, customers, and subcontractors.
• Conduct daily crew toolbox meetings to identify safety, quality, and productivity improvements.
• Perform routine labor and operate equipment, including hauling equipment to and around project sites.
• Represent PUSH, Inc. professionally at all times.
• Identify, recommend, and implement continuous improvement processes.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Two years of supervisory experience within a utility construction setting.
• Demonstrated field experience with digging operations in city and rural areas around utilities.
• Experience operating equipment such as backhoe/loader, excavator, cable plow, and compact track loader, including various attachments.
• Valid Driver’s License; Class A CDL preferred.
• Ability to pass pre-employment screenings.
• Strong leadership skills, including motivating, mentoring, and leading teams.
• Ability to work well with others and participate on a crew.
• Willingness to embrace new technologies.
• Positive attitude and ability to handle stressful situations.
• Computer literacy, including experience with Microsoft and Google G Suite.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and prepare project-related work reports.
• Excellent communication, organizational, planning, and multitasking skills.

• Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Ability to walk, sit, stand, bend, twist, stoop, push, pull, carry, and lift as needed.
• Ability to coordinate eyes, hands, feet, and limbs for skilled movement.
• 100% travel, with extended periods away from home.
