Foreman, Electrical (260 Days)

About the role

Plan, assign, supervise, and inspect the work of electricians and apprentices in electrical systems installation, maintenance, and repair. Prioritize and assign tasks based on work orders, project requests, and emergency calls in accordance with local, state, and District codes and policies. Maintain accurate records for labor, material costs, work order completion, and other maintenance functions. Conduct periodic inspections of facilities, electrical equipment, and lighting systems. Coordinate work activities with other crafts, operating units, and outside contractors to ensure compliance with specifications and safety regulations.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safety regulations and safe work practices are observed.
• Inspect subcontractor and vendor work/products for compliance with specifications.
• Supervise and train new employees and apprentices, including evaluations during the school year.
• Recommend and initiate personnel actions (promotions, transfers, discharges, disciplinary measures).
• Communicate with department director on personnel issues and with district staff on job/project needs.
• Adhere to local, state, and federal procedures for inspection, documentation, and abatement.
• Maintain inventory of tools, equipment, and vehicles; report issues to the department director.
• Ensure accuracy of hours worked, overtime, and benefit time for biweekly payroll submission.
• Initiate plans to motivate workers to achieve goals.
• Attend bond meetings and walkthroughs of bond-funded work at district facilities.
• Respond to after-hours/emergency callouts, participate in an emergency call-out rotation, and flex work hours as needed.
• Comply with all District policies and procedures.
• Perform all other assigned tasks and duties.
• Comply with time and effort reporting requirements for federally funded positions.

Requirements

• Accredited High School Diploma or USA equivalency.
• Valid Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation Journeyman Electrician License.
• Six (6) years of directly related experience in electrical installation, alteration, and repair work.
• Two (2) years of supervisory experience in a trade or related field.
• Demonstrated leadership, organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in record-keeping and computer database management (work orders, material procurement).
• Technical knowledge of electrical systems and craft area.
• Valid Texas Driver’s License with a driving record that meets District standards.
• Must pass a Dallas ISD random drug test.

Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.

Pay

• Minimum Salary: $37.73/hour
• Median Salary: $46.02/hour

Schedule

Full-time. Employee will be required to respond to after-hours/emergency callouts, participate in an emergency call-out rotation, and flex work hours to accommodate job completions.
