Job Summary
Work involves the operation of multiple (two or more) pieces of construction/landfill equipment at a skill level superior to that required for an Operator II. These skills may include, but are not limited to, being able to perform cut and fill operations according to a set of engineering drawings, according to survey stakes, in a level of efficiency and proficiency above that required for Operator II. This position operates equipment with the skills capable of providing fine grading operations to provide a smooth, finished appearance to slopes, ditches, base course, back slopes, and trash compaction.
Qualifications And Requirements
- Meet the requirements of the Equipment Operator I/II.
- Five years experience operating two or more pieces on construction equipment at a more superior level than of an Equipment Operator II which includes but is not limited to performing cut and fill operations according to engineering drawings and/or survey stakes, and fine grading operations.
- Three years experience operating trash compactor equipment.
- Class B Commercial Driver's License.
- Required to achieve the Manager of Landfill Operations (MOLO) certification by the Solid Waste Management Association (SWANA) within one year from date of hire or promotion.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Work is mostly performed outdoors.
- Subject to extreme weather conditions, exposure to fumes from exhaust on equipment, exposure to high noise levels and characteristics exhibited by solid waste.
- Physical Requirements: Work is generally heavy in nature involving sitting, standing, bending, carrying, walking, and lifting, pushing and pulling up to 100 pounds. Exposure to extreme vibration during operation of equipment.
