Summary
The ITS Foreman is responsible for the construction, installation, maintenance and repair of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) along the roadways, in both urban and rural environments. They are responsible for the direct supervision of crews, technicians and subcontractors and any associated responsibilities related to ITS.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Perform normal and customary duties associated with on-site construction, installation, maintenance and repair operations of Intelligent Transportation Systems
- Responsible for the direct supervision of crew/employees
- Involved in pre and post construction meetings as requested
- Understand, interpret and plan from construction drawings
- Provide thorough communications for all jobs with the Area Manager/Supervisor
- Assure that all needed tools and equipment are on hand and in good working order
- Assure that all materials are on site and or replenished as required
- Prepare clear, comprehensive technical, administrative and analytical reports
- Submit documentation and daily reports as required
- Hold weekly safety meetings for all subordinates
- Ensure that all work performed meets or exceeds the customer's and/or Lumin8 standards and requirements, whichever is greater
- Train and mentor crew members, ensuring their performance is consistent with the level of quality our customers and Lumin8 expect
- Inspect work in progress to ensure that quality conforms to specifications and that the work adheres to construction/maintenance schedules
- Communicate to the Area Manager/Supervisor any complaints and grievances with the workforce as needed, documenting the problems and resolution; assist in mediating and resolving employee conflicts
- Accurately record employee time, equipment usage, production quantities, materials, and job notes and submit the information in the required timeframe
- Maintain neat and orderly work areas that are secure from unlawful intrusions and also protect the public
- Provide a safe working environment for the crews by following and administering the company safety program
- Perform engineering tasks such as locates, site and equipment layouts, inspections, etc. as required
- Coordinate with subcontractors as required
- Communicate and cooperate with the job inspectors
- Perform other duties as assigned
Job Requirements
- Skilled in technical work in the construction, installation, maintenance, and repair of transportation-related equipment and systems (Intelligent Transportation Systems)
- Must be willing to work alongside crew members if/when required
- Must have knowledge of the operation of moderate-to-heavy motorized equipment
- Supervise and train crew members assigned to the project
- Material ordering, scheduling, utility locates, and record keeping
- Maintain a neat and professional appearance
- Maintain open communications with customers, vendors, and other contractors
- Follow federal, state, and local regulations for permits, utilities, traffic control, locates, and public safety
- Maintain and renew required certifications and licenses
- Must have excellent written and oral communications skills
