About the role
Supervise and coordinate the daily activities of crew workers to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard. Work closely with site leadership to manage hiring, deadlines, and safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Interpret specifications and read blueprints
- Aid in the layout of work for the crew
- Pre-plan daily activities and monitor crew productivity
- Ensure quality control of work in progress
- Order and coordinate material deliveries
- Comply with documentation requirements and fill out reports
- Coordinate equipment needs and ensure maintenance
- Support jobsite leadership in project coordination
- Implement better production methods
- Monitor and address quality, safety, and productivity issues
- Assist in interviewing, hiring, training, and appraising employees
- Conduct regular performance reviews
- Manage up to six or more employees
- Lead men and conduct regular performance reviews
- Train and mentor new workers
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Three or more years of related construction experience
- Proficient in one or more craft areas
- Ability to read blueprints and compute basic numbers
- Computer skills in Microsoft Office and E-mail
- Ability to work well under pressure and within timelines
- Regular exposure to outside weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, and extreme heat
- Frequent exposure to noise levels in the work environment
Qualifications
- Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety
- Work toward Wanzek’s Zero Injury principles
- Capable of supervising a project of six or more craft workers
- Communicate effectively and motivate workers
- Ability to work well under pressure and within timelines
- Exposure to various weather conditions, moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, and extreme heat
- Frequent exposure to noise levels in the work environment
