Foreman
About the role
Join us as a Retail Construction Foreman and be part of our collaborative company culture, delivering innovative, quality-built construction projects as a leading retail general contractor throughout California and the western United States. This role involves coordinating and overseeing daily construction activities under the supervision of the Field Manager, ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.
Responsibilities
- Lead by example, demonstrating a strong work ethic and leadership presence on-site.
- Hold yourself and others accountable, maintaining professionalism in fast-paced retail environments.
- Build positive working relationships with subcontractors, inspectors, clients, and EWB personnel.
- Accurately document daily production and submit timely daily reports with photos.
- Maintain clear communication with your Field Manager and follow through on tasks.
- Promote safe work practices and immediately address potential hazards.
- Produce quality craftsmanship and maintain organized, clean job sites.
- Actively participate in safety meetings and reinforce EWB's commitment to safety.
- Perform hands-on carpentry, fixturing, and installation work.
- Read and interpret architectural plans and understand construction sequencing.
- Coordinate daily field activities under the supervision of the Field Manager.
- Identify and communicate potential jobsite issues before they impact the schedule.
- Maintain high-quality workmanship that meets EWB standards.
- Oversee daily jobsite operations with minimal supervision after 6 months.
- Demonstrate leadership presence with subcontractors and field crews.
- Maintain strong organization of jobsite materials, equipment, and documentation.
- Support the Field Manager in driving schedule performance.
- Deliver clean and organized work areas with minimal punch list items.
Requirements
- Strong carpentry and fixturing experience required.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural plans.
- Computer literate.
- Proficient with standard carpentry hand tools.
- Ability to operate a forklift and scissor lift.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated history of working safely and adhering to safety standards.
- Ability to climb ladders and work on roofs.
- Lift a minimum of 30 pounds.
- Work extended hours outdoors in various climates.
- Reliable means of transportation.
- Able to travel for up to two weeks at a time.
- Able to work night shifts as project needs require.
- Ability to work professionally in occupied retail environments while minimizing disruption to customers, clients, and store operations.
