Foreign Military Sales (FMS)/Systems Engineer Journeyman
About the role
Perform work related to research, development, integration, test, acquisition, and life-cycle support of electronic systems that provide the aircrew with the situational awareness needed for safety-of-flight. Guide the engineering development of modern complex systems and employ systems engineering methods and tools in their development. Advise on, administer, or perform professional, scientific, or technical work concerned with engineering projects, systems, processes, equipment, devices, material, or methods. Operate and communicate effectively across multi-level security environments, demonstrating competence and creativity in developing new concepts and new uses of material, hardware, software, and tactics.
Develop or test new equipment or material that significantly adds to the operability and usefulness of existing or new equipment and systems. Provide technically sound advice and guidance to managers, supervisors, peers, and sponsors on specific technical aspects of systems or concept development. Summarize data, observations, and findings to support the preparation of technical documents, reports, and presentations for stakeholders.
Gather, analyze, document, and manage technical and performance requirements from all relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment with project objectives. Review life cycle management documentation for Aircraft Protection Systems, ensuring supportability from design through disposal. Identify, assess, and document technical, programmatic, and Aircraft Protection Systems readiness and sustainment risks. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration among cross-functional teams, program offices, contractors, and external agencies.
Prepare clear, concise, technical documents, including gap analyses, business case analyses, plans, and regular status reports or briefings. Identify opportunities for process improvements in Aircraft Protection Systems sustainment and support the implementation of best practices. Travel to other commands, universities, contractor plants, and sponsor headquarters to discuss and resolve difficult problems, assist in determining project direction, and provide advice on new and emerging technologies.
Requirements
- U.S. Citizen with an active Secret Clearance
- Technical or Scientific BS or BA degree from an accredited college or university
- At least three (3) years of recent and relevant experience in a position related to the labor category description
- Demonstrated experience in an area of engineering expertise
- Prior involvement with Foreign Military Sales (FMS) programs desired
- Understanding of program management, acquisition processes, and international defense cooperation strongly desired
- Ability to liaise with stakeholders across U.S. Navy, partners, and industry to ensure program milestones and deliverables are met
- Strong interpersonal and communications skills for working with engineers, logisticians, and multi-disciplinary teams
- Demonstrated experience in delivering results in support of multi-level security projects
- Proficient in the MS Office 365 suite
