Responsibilities
- Investigate and resolve Nostro account breaks, including beneficiary claims, non-receipts, returns, and payment settlement discrepancies.
- Generate and approve SWIFT messages to correct, repair, and re-effect payment settlements.
- Partner with Front Office, Sales, Middle Office, and Operations teams to deliver timely and accurate payment resolutions.
- Analyze exceptions, identify root causes, and recommend process improvements to reduce operational risk and enhance efficiency.
- Manage personal and shared team mailboxes to ensure prompt response to inquiries and investigations.
- Handle additional operational and investigative responsibilities as business needs evolve.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Five or more years of relevant work experience.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of international banking products, services, and operational processes.
- Extensive experience with SWIFT payment messages, including MT103, MT202, MT199, MT299, and MT210.
- Experience investigating cross-border or correspondent banking payment exceptions.
- Strong understanding of SWIFT standards and global payment settlement practices.
- Demonstrated success reducing operational losses and improving process efficiency.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
- Able to assess complex situations, anticipate outcomes, and exercise sound judgment.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and other business applications.
- Bachelor's degree or business, technical, trade, or international banking certification preferred.
