About the role
The Junior Varsity Coach reports to the Head Coach, Director of Athletics, and High School Principal, collaborating closely with the Head Coach and fulfilling assignments as directed. The role involves nurturing and developing student-athletes while adhering to MIAA regulations and fostering a respectful, inclusive environment.
Responsibilities
- Schedule and conduct practice sessions, filing the schedule with the Head Coach.
- Issue, secure, and maintain athletic equipment.
- Attend meetings with the Athletic Management Team and other coaches as requested.
- Ensure compliance with MIAA rules and regulations among players and coaches.
- Maintain records as requested by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics.
- Conduct clinics for elementary students and participate in professional development clinics.
- Ensure the safety and security of athletes during practices, games, travel, and in locker rooms.
- Assist with the varsity team as needed and perform additional duties assigned by the Head Coach or Director of Athletics.
- Establish communication with community members, parents, and booster clubs to support athlete development.
- Maintain a balance between academic and athletic experiences, monitoring student-athletes' academic progress.
- Collaborate with student-athletes, guidance counselors, and parents in the college application and selection process.
- Contact college coaches and introduce CRLS athletes in accordance with NCAA regulations.
- Identify college scholarship opportunities for athletes.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university (preferred).
- Previous successful playing and/or coaching experience.
- Current certifications: CPR/AED & First Aid, Online Concussion Education, Online Implicit Bias Education.
- Fulfillment of MIAA Coaches Education Requirements and state requirements.
- Completion of CORI Form and fingerprinting background check.
Pay
Flat rate of $4,786.00 for the contract period, paid in two installments per season: one mid-season and one at the end of the season.
Schedule
Contract length: July 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027.
