About the role
Solid Ground is a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing poverty and fostering community resilience. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the food distribution system.Responsibilities
- Pick up food and non-food items from food distribution warehouses such as Northwest Harvest and Food Lifeline.
- Make deliveries to various Seattle food banks, adhering to program policies and procedures and a predetermined delivery schedule.
- Communicate schedule changes and delays to program and food bank staff.
- Participate in all agency training and staff meetings as scheduled.
- Conduct daily vehicle and equipment inspections, including pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Ensure all items on pallets match the pick list and communicate any discrepancies to the food bank receiving the order.
- Issue order forms to food banks for verification and signature.
- Provide input to Food System Support staff in developing and revising regular and holiday schedules for food pick-ups and deliveries.
- Make decisions regarding additional delivery or pickup needs as needed.
Requirements
- Valid Washington State Driver’s License
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Experience driving a large commercial vehicle
- Knowledge of food distribution systems and logistics
- Strong communication and organizational skills
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- At least one year of experience in a similar role
