About the role

Solid Ground is a nonprofit organization dedicated to addressing poverty and fostering community resilience. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the food distribution system.

Responsibilities

• Pick up food and non-food items from food distribution warehouses such as Northwest Harvest and Food Lifeline.
• Make deliveries to various Seattle food banks, adhering to program policies and procedures and a predetermined delivery schedule.
• Communicate schedule changes and delays to program and food bank staff.
• Participate in all agency training and staff meetings as scheduled.
• Conduct daily vehicle and equipment inspections, including pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Ensure all items on pallets match the pick list and communicate any discrepancies to the food bank receiving the order.
• Issue order forms to food banks for verification and signature.
• Provide input to Food System Support staff in developing and revising regular and holiday schedules for food pick-ups and deliveries.
• Make decisions regarding additional delivery or pickup needs as needed.

Requirements

• Valid Washington State Driver’s License
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Experience driving a large commercial vehicle
• Knowledge of food distribution systems and logistics
• Strong communication and organizational skills

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• At least one year of experience in a similar role
• Experience with food distribution systems and logistics

Pay The pay for this position is $20 per hour.

Schedule

This position is full-time, Monday through Friday, with some flexibility based on the delivery schedule.
