About the role
Serves as liaison between the patient, nursing staff and Food Services Department regarding meal selection, obtaining and recording food preferences. Collects menus and maintains on-going records of diet orders. Assures high quality meal service to the patient by checking each tray, at meal time, for accuracy and delivering meals to patients in a timely basis.
Responsibilities
- Collects census and diet changes prior to each meal service.
- Maintains on-going records of diet orders for each patient.
- Responsible for collecting all selective menus from patients on assigned floors.
- Assists patients with menu selection or writes patients' menus as necessary using food preferences as a guideline.
- Visits patients daily to ascertain likes and dislikes and meal satisfaction.
- Communicates any special problem to the Dietitian.
- Checks menus for diet changes prior to each meal service to ensure accuracy for patients on assigned floors.
- Tallies menu orders for hot and cold production, and transfers total figures to appropriate production forms.
- Completes daily meal equivalency sheets and late tray logs.
- Reviews/modifies all meals for diet accuracy for patients on assigned floors.
- Assembles daily patient food trays for assigned patient/floors by following patient choice selection as per allowable.
- Delivers assembled patient food trays on assigned floors and collects and returns tray at the end of patient meal.
- Ensures delivery of excellent customer service resulting in positive and improving patient satisfaction scores for department and Medical Center.
- Answers and records telephone messages for diet orders, diet changes, room transfers, etc and carries out changes as received according to policies.
- Prepares Special Nourishment Control Sheet for all special nourishment labels.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs.
Qualifications
- Minimum one year experience in hospital Food Service Department (preferred).
Pay
Minimum rate of $17.24 hourly. The starting rate of pay is provided for informational purposes only and is not a guarantee of a specific offer. The base compensation determined at the time of the offer may be different than the posted rate of pay based on labor market data, experience, education and certifications, skills, geographic location, internal equity, and budget or grant funding.
