Food Services Associate

About the role

We are seeking a Food Services Associate to join our Food Services team in Boone, NC. Through humanitarian work, the goal and purpose of Samaritan's Purse are to help people in Jesus' name and share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

Responsibilities

• Maintain your personal relationship with Jesus Christ and be an effective witness for Him.
• Prepare and serve food according to approved menus and standardized recipes while keeping waste to a minimum.
• Put away dry stock, refrigerated food, and frozen foods when delivered by food service vendors.
• Monitor food quality using Food Safe methods; apply correct cooking temperatures.
• Maintain the kitchen, eating and service areas, storage areas, and cooler/freezer facilities in a clean and orderly manner (sweep and mop floors).
• Assist or fill-in in serving meals and portioning food appropriately.
• Distribute and stock prepped and ready-to-serve food to the line.
• Apply basic food preparation techniques and terminology.
• Assist with daily closing duties: washing dishes, removing trash, and breaking down boxes.
• Follow the policies and procedures of Samaritan's Purse as outlined in the Policy Manual.
• Attend daily morning devotions and participate in prayer support for the ministry, donors, and volunteers.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Maintain a personal, active relationship with Jesus Christ and be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ.
• Able to lift and/or move 50 lbs consistently over a 7-8 hour shift.
• Must be a team player.
• Inventory and pallet jack experience.
• Familiarity with trucking and/or container inventory requirements.
• Familiarity with barcode scanning.

Qualifications

High School diploma or equivalent; one to three years experience in food preparation.

Pay

$18 per hour
