Food Services Aide - Part Time

Part-time position, 4:00pm to 8:00pm four evenings a week including every other weekend.

About the role

The primary purpose of this position is to perform a variety of routine tasks within the dietary department by current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, and regulations, ensuring a successful dietary program is maintained at all times.

Responsibilities

• Prepares therapeutic desserts and salads as required
• Serves meals in the health center pantries
• Sets up tables in the health center dining room(s) and breaks them down after the meals
• Transports hot and cold foods to and from the health center pantries
• Transports all required non-food items to and from the health center pantries
• Washes silver, glass, and china in dish machines in pantries as per regulation
• Provides health center snacks and supplements per diet orders
• Maintains stock and sanitation levels in coffee and juice machines in dining rooms
• Sets tables and maintains work stations in proper order
• Takes orders, provides service, and requested items both graciously and courteously
• Clears dishes from tables during and after meal service
• Answers pertinent questions about menu items
• Ensures that orders match physician’s diet orders

Requirements

• Ability to understand and follow instructions in English, communicate effectively, perform simple arithmetic, and understand measurements and conversions
• Previous experience in nursing home food service preferred, but not required
• Ability to plan, organize, and set up trays and plates in accordance with diet orders and interpret specifications and standards
• Ability to work in close cooperation with residents, guests, visitors, families, supervisor, and peers
• Requires empathy for the elderly

Pay

$15.25 - $17.25 per hour
