Food Service Worker/Tray Assembler

Part-time, temporary-to-hire position with rotating shifts on nights and weekends (3:30 PM – 8:30 PM).

About the role

The tray assembler works with the food production team and nutrition office operators to assemble and deliver patient meal trays to inpatients. They also assist in the dish room, deliver food and supplies to hospital departments, and perform general kitchen cleaning tasks. Strong customer service and teamwork skills are essential.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, assemble, and deliver patient trays, snacks, and nourishments per diet specifications.
• Serve patients, guests, and cafeteria customers with excellent customer service.
• Follow portion control, cash handling, and regulatory standards (HIPAA, OSHA, TJC).
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment, including cleaning and sanitizing dishes, utensils, equipment, and carts.
• Stock patient units, retail areas, and storage rooms, and monitor food and equipment temperatures.

Requirements

• Currently enrolled in high school or equivalent (High School Diploma/GED preferred).
• Food Handler Certification (SERVSAFE) upon hire.
• IA/IL Child Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training required within 90 days of hire.
• IA/IL Adult Dependent Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training required within 90 days of hire where providing care.
