Duties
- Perform a variety of food preparations and limited cooking tasks.
- Watch while items are cooking, turn as required, regulate temperature, and remove when done.
- Measure and weigh ingredients according to recipes or as directed.
- Prepare toast, salads, salad dressings, and sandwiches.
- Prepare vegetables and fruits for serving according to instructions and/or recipes.
- Place cooked food in serving dishes in steam carts and food trucks.
- Clean kitchen equipment and work area.
- Keep refrigerators, grills, equipment, and working area clean.
- May be required to collect money, operate a cash register, and prepare necessary documentation for cash funds accountability.
- Assist in inventory taking.
- Clean equipment in cooking and dining area.
- Wash dishes, pots, pans, coffee urn, glasses, and flatware.
- Operate mechanical dishwasher.
- Maintain water and detergent levels in dishwasher; remove strainer pans, inspection doors, etc., for proper cleaning; remove calcium deposits as required; and restore room to orderliness.
Qualifications Required
- One year work experience cooking in a food service facility.
- Experience with common sanitation standards in handling and serving food.
- Able to follow recipes and combine ingredients for fancy salads and other uncooked dishes.
- Able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training.
- Physically able to frequently lift objects weighing up to 40 pounds. Able to continuously stand, walk, stoop, reach, push, pull and bend for long periods of time.
