Food Service Worker (Per Diem) - Kitchen
Job Summary
A hospital might not necessarily be the place that someone goes for a good time, but as a Food Service Worker (FSW) at Rady Children's Hospital, you can at least ensure that the food tastes incredible! Gone are the days of the hospital cafeteria’s "mystery meat." The RCHSD cafe offers healthy and delicious meals for our patients, families and staff. Your job as a FSW is to prepare and deliver trays to patients, assist in the preparation of hot and cold cafe menu items and to be able to adhere to recipe specifications and portion controls. A FSW may also be responsible for adhering to cash handling procedures in an accurate and consistent manner. Proper handling and storage of food per guidelines.

This position has front line contact with families, patients and staff and has a major impact on customer happiness, cafe room service and retail services!
Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver trays to patients
- Assist in the preparation of hot and cold cafe menu items
- Adhere to recipe specifications and portion controls
- Adhere to cash handling procedures in an accurate and consistent manner
- Proper handling and storage of food per guidelines
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or Equivalent
- Ability to apply elementary math functions
- Ability to work well under time constraints
- Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed easy-to-follow written or oral instructions
- Speak or read English
- In lieu of H.S. Diploma, we will accept one year of professional food-service experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Two years of experience
- Servsafe Certificate

The current salary range for this position is $21.00 to $28.88. Rady Children’s Hospital is committed to compensation that is externally competitive and internally equitable.
