Location: Bemidji, MN

Part-time, unlimited position with a work schedule of 6:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m., including weekend rotation. Hours may vary based on business needs, with a minimum of 64 hours per 2-week pay period.

About the Role

As a Food Service Worker for the Minnesota Veterans Home (MVH) in Bemidji, you will perform routine food service tasks including food preparation, short order cooking, serving meals to residents, dishwashing, and cleaning food service areas while following established food service policies and procedures. This role plays a critical part in improving the well-being and quality of life for veterans.

New hires may be eligible for a $2,500 hiring bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare food on a large scale and plan/prepare small meals on a household scale
  • Perform simple cooking tasks and follow diet cards/instructions
  • Serve meals to residents and maintain cleanliness in food service areas
  • Use and care for cooking utensils and equipment
  • Adhere to food values, nutrition standards, and sanitation guidelines

Requirements

  • Knowledge of materials and methods used in preparing food
  • Ability to perform cleaning and food service tasks
  • Ability to read diet cards and follow instructions

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience with food preparation and cooking on a large scale
  • Experience planning and preparing small meals

Preferred Qualifications

  • Food service-related experience specifically with prepping, plating, and serving food
  • Knowledge of basic sanitation standards
  • ServSafe Food Certificate
  • Knowledge of International Dysphagia Diet Standardization Initiative (IDDSI)

Additional Requirements

  • A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check will be conducted on the top finalist(s). Finalists must pass this check.
  • A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening or chest x-ray is required prior to employment.
  • Employment reference checks will be conducted on finalists, including documentation review and contact with former employers.

Pay

$20.87 - $25.88 per hour
