About the role
Part-time position with rotating schedule of 3 days per week. Hours vary by shift:
- 12 pm to 6 pm
- 9 am to 2 pm
- Sundays
Must be available to work some weekends and holidays.
Responsibilities
- Oversee inmate labor and team members assisting with the food service operation in a correctional facility.
- Prepare and serve a variety of food items following assigned work instructions and menus.
- Use a variety of food preparation utensils and machines in preparing food.
- Manage inmate labor and team members in the kitchen during food prep and food service shifts.
- Serve food during planned meal schedules and according to department procedures.
- Cook food according to recipes using kitchen utensils/equipment.
- Serve menued portions to meet clients' nutritional needs using proper utensils.
- Train other food service workers.
- Promote a healthy and safe work environment for other employees and inmates.
- Stand and be on your feet for much of the scheduled shift.
- Perform physical demands including lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods of time.
- Carry out other responsibilities as determined by operational needs.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- At least 18 years of age.
Preferred: Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience.
