About the role

This position involves setting up and maintaining dining areas, preparing and serving food, and performing various food service tasks.

Responsibilities

• Set up and break down cafeteria lines, steam tables, dining room tables, and side service stands with food items.
• Replenish food items as necessary.
• Serve food by order and proper proportion.
• Brew coffee according to the number of servings required.
• Assemble or toss fresh fruit and green salads in quantity using prepared dressings and portions into standard serving sizes.
• Makes cold sandwiches using prepared ingredients.
• Washes tables and counters.
• Operates, breaks down, and cleans all equipment assigned to the area for food preparation.
• Clean kitchen equipment such as worktables, sinks, and refrigerators.
• Scrapes, soaks, scours, and scrubs heavy cooking utensils such as mixing bowls or pots.
• Separates food waste and trash from dishes, glasses, and silverware.
• Loads dishwashers.
• Stores cleaned dishes, glasses, and silverware.
• Cleans and sanitizes trash cans; disposes of trash.
• Unloads and stores food from delivery trucks.

Requirements

• Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.
• Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
• A one-year probationary period may be required.
• Satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E-Verify) check.
• Attend Team Member Orientation within the first 30 days of employment.
• This is a flexible position.
• Must be able to work varying/rotating shifts to include working days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours refresher training annually.
• Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, 2-15j(1) to include a medical examination.
• Available to work Community Events that Business Operations Division supports.
• Must be able to frequently lift and carry moderate objects up to 40 pounds.
• May be exposed to hot liquids, sharp cutting blades, and hot working surfaces, and extreme temperature changes when entering walk-in refrigerators or freezing units.

• A Qualified Candidate Must Possess The Following Abilities:
• To understand and follow simple instructions.
• To be able to use hand tools for cleaning and operating simple machines.

Skills and Knowledge

• Must have skill and knowledge to perform tasks involving several procedures and be able to concentrate on work assignments despite interruptions and distractions.
• A working knowledge of sanitation standards is required as well as knowledge of procedures to prevent contamination.
• Must know basic food handling techniques, personal hygiene standards, and safe work procedures.
• Must have the ability to read and understand written material.
• Must have knowledge of basic arithmetic such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, and decimals, such as counting the number of tables in order to determine the number of portions or meals required, or, how many servings a particular container will yield.
