Food Service Worker II Floater - Pflaum - 0.969 FTE - 26-27 SY

Starting compensation: $25.47 hourly (2026-27 salary schedule). Non-exempt, 10-month academic calendar (September–June) with summers off. Hours: Monday–Friday, 6:00 AM–1:45 PM.

Under general supervision, this role assists with the preparation, packaging, and distribution of school meals while promoting a positive and team-oriented lunchroom experience for students.

Responsibilities

• Follow all USDA/DPI and MMSD rules, regulations, and standard operating procedures.
• Collect cash and report meals from students and adults, including computer operation.
• Distribute food in proper portions and maintain high standards of food safety.
• Clean tables, kitchen equipment, and general food service areas.
• Assist with accurate meal preparation and maintain production records.
• Maintain student account records and reconcile daily cash receipts, bank deposits, and sales reports.
• Substitute for Site Leads or other staff when absent, following their job descriptions.
• Accurately enter meal counts for claiming, food orders, and recipes.
• Open/close POS system and dress appropriately per the Employee Handbook.
• Respond promptly to all communications (e.g., email, voice messages).
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Completion of an online Food Safety and Sanitation Program before probation is completed.
• Three months of cashiering, customer service, or related experience.
• Six months of food service experience.
• Experience working cross-culturally and/or commitment to developing cultural competence.
• Positive attitude and willingness to contribute to a team-oriented lunchroom environment.
• Reliable transportation to work and between district locations.

Qualifications

• Ability to operate a personal computer, cash register, and handle money accurately.
• Ability to read and follow written/verbal directions and maintain records.
• Ability to operate industrial kitchen equipment (e.g., mixers, ovens, refrigeration units).
• Knowledge of basic mathematical functions (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division).
• Ability to recognize similarities/differences in colors, shapes, sounds, odors, and textures.
• Ability to sustain prolonged visual concentration and stand for extended periods.
• Manual dexterity for operating office and kitchen equipment.

Desired Qualifications

• ServSafe Certification.
• High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Working Conditions

• May require travel between district locations and off-site meetings.
• Position may involve evenings, nights, or weekends as needed.
• School-based roles are primarily in-person unless otherwise directed.
• Work environments include indoor/outdoor settings, inclement weather, and areas without air conditioning.

Physical Requirements

• Moderate physical effort, including stooping, kneeling, crouching, climbing, and crawling.
• Ability to stand for extended periods and walk at a fast pace during shifts.
• Frequent lifting/carrying of 10 lbs or less; occasional lifting of 21–50 lbs; rare lifting of 51–100 lbs.
• Ability to work in fluctuating temperatures and uncomfortable conditions.
