Job Summary

The Food Service Worker I at North Mississippi Health Services is responsible for supporting the provision of timely and safe food service for customers, including area stocking and sanitation. This role requires strong communication skills to engage effectively within the department and with external customers in daily operations and issue resolution.

Job Functions

  • Ensures timely, safe food service to customers, plates and serve foods, and stocking of foods.
  • Washes dishes, silverware, pots, pans, and racks dishes.
  • Cleans and sanitizes equipment and the facilities.
  • Maintains the physical area efficiently and effectively, including the cleaning and sanitation of all areas.

  • Remains responsible for knowing their areas’ menu, service standards and procedures.

  • Assists in effective communication throughout the department.

  • Assists in helping management meet budget.
  • Must use food and supplies wisely.
  • Must use their time wisely and adhere to the lunch and break schedule.

Safe Food Handling & Sanitation

  • Follows proper food safety procedures and properly documents required monitors.
  • Participates in FNS’s HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) Program.
  • Cleans & sanitizes of all areas to meet the State Board of Health Standards.
  • Assists in the keeping assigned HACCP monitors and all other departmental documents.

Qualifications

Education

  • A High School Diploma or GED Equivalent is required.

  • Must have the ability to communicate effectively orally.
