About the role
As a Food Service Worker, you will serve meals for Navy recruits, sailors, students, and staff according to designated meal schedules. The role includes a variety of responsibilities such as scullery work (automated dishwasher), ID checking, transporting food from the kitchen to the serving line, and attending the salad bar.
Responsibilities
- Prepare the galley to serve meals during designated meal periods (15%).
- Assist with setting up steam tables, dessert bars, drink stations, and product lines according to daily menus (20%).
- Fill hot boxes with food from kettles and ovens (5%).
- Serve customers expeditiously in a polite, courteous manner (ongoing).
- Empty trash receptacles at the end of each meal period or as needed (5%).
- Thoroughly clean food service equipment, steam tables, dessert bars, dining room tables, and serving line areas during and after meal periods (50%).
- Assist in the scullery as a scullery runner (5%).
- Maintain the kitchen, back dock, restrooms, dining rooms, hot/cold boxes, and meal line.
- Follow all safety procedures and report safety violations to the appropriate supervisor.
Requirements
- Must be able to obtain base security clearance.
- Must possess a state-issued REAL ID.
Qualifications
- Ability to understand and implement oral, visual, or written instructions.
- Ability to operate various pieces of equipment in the performance of job duties.
Physical/Sensory Demands
- Full range of motion and ability to stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
