Food Service Worker - Cafeteria
About the role
Punahou's food services encompass the logistics of feeding over 3,600 students and 600 faculty and staff daily with a choice of offerings in the dining rooms and snack bar. The school continues its commitment to providing healthy food options with emphasis on fresh fruits and vegetables, low-fat, high-protein meats, locally grown meats and produce, a minimal amount of processed foods served, no artificial trans fats, no high fructose corn syrups and no deep-fat fried foods as well as sustainable choices in the operation of the cafeteria. The Food Service Worker supports the food service area with responsibilities for preparing, serving, and storing food items for students, faculty and staff.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, serve, and store food items for students, faculty and staff
- Maintain food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition
- Perform routine cashiering tasks
- Operate the school's computerized point of sale system
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) preferred
- Previous food service experience preferred
- Prior working knowledge of point-of-sale systems preferred
- Must obtain ServSafe Certification within 6 months from entering the position
Schedule
- Work Year: 10.5 months
- Monday - Friday, 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM
- Schedule may vary based on operational needs
Pay
Minimum Hourly Rate: $17.00/Hour. Compensation is commensurate with qualifications. Pay for selected candidates will be determined by various factors such as knowledge, skills, abilities, relevant training and experience, and internal equity.
