About This Position

The Food Service Worker prepares and serves a variety of food items in accordance with assigned work instructions and menus within a correctional setting. This role involves using food preparation utensils and machines. Available shifts require flexibility for weekdays and weekends, 9 AM–5 PM.

Responsibilities

Prepare and assist in the preparation of quality foods according to planned menus, recipes, and work instructions.
Maintain a clean and food-safe workstation by cleaning as you go, sweeping, mopping, and managing trash.
Serve food during planned meal schedules following department policies and procedures.
Utilize kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare, and serve food according to recipes.
Use proper utensils to serve portions and meet clients’ nutritional needs.
Adhere to all food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage.
Maintain a clean work environment, including refrigerators, freezers, cooking equipment, and serving equipment.
Operate in a fast-paced environment while performing routine kitchen tasks in an organized and clean manner.
Manage garbage collection and keep kitchen floors clean from excess food or trash.
Perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods.
Stand and remain on your feet for most of the scheduled shift.
Complete other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED and/or equivalent experience.
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience is preferred.
