About This Position

The Food Service Worker prepares and serves a variety of food items in accordance with assigned work instructions and menus within a correctional setting. This role involves using food preparation utensils and machines. Our ideal candidate is passionate about food and service, understands food handling regulations, thrives in a team environment, and adapts quickly to changes.

Responsibilities

Prepare and assist team members in the preparation of quality foods according to the planned menu, recipes, and work instructions in a timely manner.
Clean as you go, maintain a neat and food-safe workstation, pull trash, sweep, mop, and perform other assigned duties within the facility.
Serve food during planned meal schedules according to department policies and procedures.
Utilize kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare, and serve food according to recipes.
Use proper utensils to serve menued portions and meet clients’ nutritional needs.
Abide by all food safety regulations pertaining to sanitation, food handling, and storage.
Maintain a clean work area, including refrigerators, freezers, cooking equipment, and serving equipment.
Function in a fast-paced environment, perform routine kitchen tasks, and stay organized and clean.
Keep up with garbage collection and maintain clean kitchen floors.
Perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods.
Stand and remain on your feet for much of the scheduled shift.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED and/or equivalent experience.
Must be at least 18 years of age.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience.
