Food Service Worker

Wage Rate: $17.00 per hour.

Overview

The Food Service Supervisor reports to a Food Service Director and works onsite inside a jail/correctional facility.

Schedule

Must be available to work some weekends and holidays.

• Sunday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
• Monday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
• Tuesday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
• Wednesday: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Manage inmate labor and team members in the kitchen during food‑preparation and service shifts.
• Serve food according to planned meal schedules and department procedures.
• Use kitchen utensils and equipment to cook food following recipes.
• Serve menu portions to meet clients' nutritional needs.
• Train other food‑service workers.
• Promote a healthy and safe work environment for employees and inmates.
• Perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods.
• Other responsibilities as determined by organizational needs.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• At least 18 years of age.
• Preferred: prior institutional food‑service or restaurant experience.
• Passion for food and service, understanding of food‑handling regulations, desire to learn, teamwork, adaptability, and flexibility.
