Food Service Worker

Responsibilities

• Prepares and cooks all meals for inmates on an assigned shift.
• Prepares or assists in the preparation of hot and cold meat and vegetable dishes, beverages, sandwiches, simple bakery items, and/or other similar food items, as appropriate to the position.
• Removes food and beverages from freezers, thaw, and place under refrigeration.
• Prepares drink mix containers and/or hot water containers for disbursement to housing units.
• Prepares sack meals for inmates leaving out of the facility.
• Reviews menu diet cards for preparing inmate special meals/snacks.
• Loads and sets up delivery carts with appropriate number of meal and special diet trays for disbursement to housing units.
• Maintains and ensures all security of food storage areas and sharp kitchen utensils.
• Maintains standards of sanitation and cleanliness.
• Cleans and sanitizes food preparation area and all equipment.
• Cleans and maintains all work areas, including sweeping and mopping of all floors, collecting and placing garbage and trash in designated containers, as appropriate to the area of operation.
• Affixes assistance to inmate workers in washing dinner trays and other kitchen equipment.
