Job Title: Food Service Worker FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Location: Auburn, California Salary Range: $17.00 – $21.00/hour Schedule: Varied; must be flexible Required Certification: CA Food Handlers Card About Us At the Sisters of Mercy, we are sustained and inspired by our relationship with God and one another. Job Purpose As a Food Service Worker, you will help maintain a safe, clean, and organized kitchen environment while following dietary safety guidelines. You will assist with food preparation, meal service, and sanitation to ensure a high standard of hygiene and food safety. Your work will support our mission by serving residents, guests, and coworkers with respect and care. Key Responsibilities Prepare, serve, and deliver meals, including staff lunch and Mercy Center Auburn deliveriesAssist with setup and breakdown for special events and cateringMaintain high sanitation standards in kitchen, dining areas, storage, and equipmentOperate kitchen equipment safely and correctlyFollow proper procedures for cleaning, chemical use, and hand-washingMonitor and replenish supplies, wash dishes, carts, shelves, ovens, stoves, and other equipmentCommunicate respectfully with coworkers, residents, and guestsParticipate in safety training and follow all OSHA guidelines Qualifications Required: At least 1 year of related food service experience or equivalent education/trainingValid CA Food Handlers Card (or obtain within 30 days of employment)Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidaysAbility to follow instructions and complete tasks efficientlyTeam player with strong service orientation Preferred High school diploma or GEDStrong communication skills in English Physical Requirements Frequent walking, bending, stooping, and lifting up to 30 lbsAbility to work in hot, cold, and steam-filled environmentsAble to push/pull objects and use proper body mechanicsMust be able to read, distinguish colors, and hear normal sounds in a busy environment Why Join Us?
