Performs a variety of food service and cashier duties in a cafeteria setting.
Responsibilities
- Sets up and replenishes cafeteria line, steam table, and food service counters with hot and cold food.
- Serves food cafeteria-style; prepares self-service stations by setting up condiments, silverware, and glassware.
- Sets up dining room tables for service.
- Prepares fruits and vegetables for cooking and serving by cleaning, peeling, cutting, scraping, chopping, and dicing.
- Operates powered and mechanical kitchen equipment, including potato peelers, slicers, mixers, grinders, scales, and measuring devices in accordance with safety regulations.
- Unloads supply trucks and places supplies in proper storage; brings supplies to work areas as required.
- Washes dishes, pots, and pans manually or using a mechanical dishwasher.
- Sets up, operates, disassembles, cleans, and reassembles dishwashing machines after each use.
- Performs preventive maintenance on dishwashing machines by removing inspector doors, strainer pans, screens, and spray arms for cleaning.
- Removes used utensils and dishes from dining areas; buffs floors.
- Cleans walls, windows, kitchen, dining area, storage areas, offices, and hallways.
- Performs heavy-duty cleaning tasks, including ceilings, exhaust hoods, spaces behind equipment, floors, walls, refrigerators, and freezers.
- Maintains garbage collection areas; cleans and sanitizes garbage and trash containers.
- Removes heavy garbage from work area.
- Vacuums carpets and rags using a mechanical vacuum cleaner.
- Performs headcount and cashier duties as required.
- Operates cash register to record headcount figures, prices for each menu item sold, and cash collected.
- Collects money and makes change; counts cash to ensure agreement with cash register records.
- Checks identification to ensure only authorized personnel enter the dining facility.
- Maintains and prepares appropriate signature headcount sheets and other required forms.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Must pass all applicable records and background checks.
- Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check; any discrepancies must be resolved as a condition of employment.
- Starting May 7, 2025, non-affiliated individuals requesting access will need a REAL ID-compliant driver’s license or another acceptable form of identification to access CNRMA Installations.
- Resumes must demonstrate experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) relevant to this position.
Qualifications
- Ability to perform tasks involving several steps or requiring judgment in sequencing tasks.
- Skill in serving uniform individual portions while concentrating to avoid distractions, especially when multiple people require service simultaneously.
- Ability to perform simple arithmetic.
- Experience operating a cash register and making change.
- Knowledge of basic sanitation standards and procedures to prevent contamination of food and supplies.
Education
This position does not have a positive education requirement.
