Food Service Worker
Per diem (PD/PRN) position with varied shifts at Mission Regional Medical Center in Mission, TX.
About the role
The Food Service Worker (also referred to as Café Worker or Food Service Associate) supports patient nutrition and healthcare hospitality by preparing, serving, and delivering meals in the hospital cafeteria. Responsibilities include ensuring food safety and cleanliness, adhering to dietary guidelines, maintaining kitchen equipment and inventory, and contributing to overall food service operations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve food to patients, staff, and visitors
- Ensure food safety by following hygiene and sanitation guidelines
- Operate kitchen equipment such as ovens, slicers, or dishwashers
- Stock supplies and maintain inventory
- Clean and sanitize work areas, utensils, and equipment
- Take and fulfill meal orders according to dietary guidelines for patients
- Handle cash or operate a register for cafeteria transactions
Requirements
- High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred (required starting July 1, 2017)
- County-specific Food Handlers certification required upon hire and must be maintained
- Experience as a dietary aide or food service associate in a healthcare setting is encouraged
