Food Service Worker

Location: HVED Campus 1213 Gilmore Ave Winona, MN 55987 Hiawatha Valley Education District (HVED) is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a part-time Food Service Worker. Position Overview The Food Service worker assists in the preparation and distribution of nutritious and appealing foods for our students. Works well with fellow staff to create a positive team environment. This is a part-time position working up to 10 hours a week when school is in session, with the shift working from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. Essential Duties & Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. This list of essential functions is not exhaustive and may be supplemented as necessary. Provides excellent customer service to all students and staff. Completes regulatory documentation as required.Stores food items at the proper temperature with proper labeling and dating information, and discards food when applicable.Sanitizes work area before and at the end of the scheduled workday by completing the sanitation checklist.Follows and performs lunch procedure according to allergies and daily menus.Assists in the cleaning of the café, lunchrooms, and meal carts. Collects dirty dishes for daily sanitation and pick up.Operates equipment in a safe, proper, and efficient manner.Reports any problem/food issue or accident occurring in the Café premises immediately to the Food Service Manager.Prior to the start of each school year, attends and participates in annual training provided by the Food Service Director and Manager, and attends and participates in All Staff Meetings and assigned trainings. Checks and reports inventory to Food Service Manager.Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Ability to work independently and manage time effectively and efficientlyPhysical ability to lift, bend, and complete cleaning tasksPrior food service experience preferred but not requiredMust pass a background checkMust be at least 18 years of age Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of standingMust be able to lift, bend, stoop, climb, reach, and lift up to 50 pounds at a time Salary $15.50 - $28.75 based on experience FLSA Status: Non-exempt Hiawatha Valley Education District (HVED) provides special education services to 12 School Districts and three Charter Schools within five counties of southeast Minnesota - Fillmore, Houston, Olmsted, Wabasha, and Winona. HVED has a Setting IV Behavior program for students grades K-12 with challenging behaviors currently receiving special education services. Our River Valley Academy ALC (Area Learning Center) serves middle and high school students by providing personalized instruction to meet the learner's needs.
