Food Service Worker
About the role
The Food Service Worker is responsible for food preparation, cooking, cleaning, stocking, organizing, and providing excellent customer service.
Responsibilities
- Assisting with food preparation such as creating fruit cups, maintaining the salad bar, stocking food supplies, etc.
- Engage with and provide superior service to all customers.
- Communicate with customers regarding orders, comments, and complaints.
- Establish or identify prices of goods and capture sales in the point of sales system.
- Receive payment by cash, check, credit cards, vouchers, or automatic debits.
- Issue receipts, refunds, credits, or change due to customers.
- Ensure accuracy of payments and change disbursements.
- Balance the cash drawer at the end of each shift.
- Contribute to a positive team environment.
- Recognize and reinforce individual and team accomplishments.
- Identify alarms or changes in morale and performance.
- Maintain calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to set a positive example for the team.
- Organize and stock supplies, service stations and products.
- Rotate products and stock grab-and-go items throughout shift to increase sales.
- Follow-up placement protocols to optimize customer sales.
- Follow operational policies and procedures.
- Follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines.
- Clean, sanitize and organize work areas, utensils, and equipment.
- Clean service and seating areas.
- Scrub and polish counters, tables, and other equipment.
- Perform other duties such as sweeping, mopping, and washing dishes, to keep equipment and facilities sanitary.
Requirements
- 1 year of food service experience required.
- Strong food prep skills preferred.
Qualifications
- Knowledge of techniques and equipment for preparing, serving, storing and handling food and beverage products.
- Ability to add and subtract, charging appropriately and distributing change to customers.
