Food Service Worker

SEIU pay range: $21.01 to $31.16 per hour, dependent on experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of routine duties related to preparation and serving of food and beverages, including espresso and other drinks.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen, work areas, and cooking utensils/equipment.
• Follow oral and written instructions and established procedures.
• Prepare food and beverages according to recipes and preparation instructions, including barista techniques.
• Perform simple computations and record keeping.
• Operate a cash register proficiently.

Requirements

• Current Food Handlers Certificate or ability to obtain within thirty (30) days of hire.
• Less than high school education; on-the-job training provided.
• Previous barista or food service experience preferred.

Skills

• Knowledge of food and beverage preparation.
• Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately.
• Basic math and record-keeping skills.
• Proficiency in operating a cash register.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Subject to burns and cuts.
• Frequent prolonged standing, walking, sitting, stooping, and occasional carrying/lifting of lightweight materials (up to 25 pounds).
• Requires visual acuity and depth perception to recognize words and numbers.
• Requires hand and finger dexterity and hand/eye coordination for using a computer keyboard and common office equipment.
