Job Summary

This position may qualify for a sign‑on bonus. Under general supervision, the employee performs various jobs for patient food preparation and completes established competencies within the designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties for patient tray preparation, retail sales, and catering
• Assemble patients’ trays
• Chop, slice, and peel food
• Transport carts to and from different units
• Deliver trays and snacks to patients
• Transport food to other areas as needed
• Wash pots and pans by hand and by machine
• Clean and sanitize dishes
• Operate, clean, and sanitize necessary equipment
• Sweep and mop all areas of the department
• Collect and dispose of trash
• Stock and clean nourishment rooms/refrigerators as assigned
• Adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations
• Utilize resources efficiently and effectively while maintaining a safe work environment
• Address patient population‑specific needs
• Participate in performance improvement activities

Qualifications

• Minimum Education: None
• Preferred Education: High School graduate or equivalent
• Preferred Experience: 1 year in patient‑feeding food service establishment
• Required Certifications/Licensure: ANSI Accredited Texas Food Handler or ANSI Accredited Food Manager course, or Certified Food Manager from the San Antonio Metropolitan Health District
