The Food Service Team Member performs duties across cleaning, food preparation, patient trayline, and retail café operations, ensuring adherence to portion control, quality, and sanitation standards. This position works as a member of the food service team on one or more assignments in cleaning, food preparation, patient trayline or retail café. Provides service and assistance to patients, staff and other customers in accordance with established dietary and retail cafe policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Maintaining food and supply levels
• Recording temperatures
• Delivering meals to patient units
• Providing excellent customer service to patients, families, and hospital staff
• Safely handling cleaning chemicals under regular supervision
• Setting up work station and preparing all assigned foods and nourishments in the correct quantities, following established procedures, portion control and food quality standards
• Assuring that food presentation continually meets standards
• Cleaning and sanitizing dishes, flatware, trays, cups, glasses and cooking utensils
• Cleaning and sanitizing designated equipment and kitchen areas, disposing of all waste materials
• Monitoring dish machine temperature
• Maintaining par levels of foods and/or supplies in assigned areas, ordering and/or restocking items in accordance with established routines, rotating food stocks, checking expiration dates
• Checking and recording food and equipment temperatures according to defined procedures, and reporting any discrepancies to the supervisor
• May deliver meals, nourishments, late trays and/or tube feedings to units; return excess nourishments as requested
• May also assist in catering or special event service
• May handle transactions at cash register (if applicable) and/or café
• Interacts with other food service department personnel, hospital staff, patients and families
