About the role
As a Food Service Worker at Acelero Learning, you will play an essential role in supporting the health, well-being, and daily nourishment of children ages 0–5 within our Head Start and Early Head Start programs. This position offers a meaningful opportunity to contribute to school readiness by ensuring children receive nutritious, USDA-approved meals in a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. You will work collaboratively with program staff to maintain high standards of food safety, organization, and service—helping create a strong foundation for learning and growth.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the preparation of assigned menus, ensuring meals are attractive, nutritious, and USDA-approved.
- Support the delivery of meals to classrooms and the collection of dirty dishes following meal service.
- Clean dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment using approved sanitary washing procedures.
- Receive and inspect food deliveries for accuracy, quality, and compliance with safety standards.
- Properly store food and supplies, including dating all items and following FIFO (First In, First Out) inventory practices.
- Monitor and maintain proper food temperatures during preparation, storage, and service.
- Ensure refrigerators and freezers are maintained at appropriate temperatures.
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen materials, equipment, and workspaces in accordance with Health Department regulations.
Requirements
- A strong commitment to supporting children and families in a mission-driven early childhood environment.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Ability to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Reliable transportation and the ability to travel as required.

Pay
$15.78 per hour.
