Responsibilities
- Clean dishes, utensils, kitchen equipment, and work areas by hand or machine; maintain cleanliness of dining and storage areas.
- Stock supplies and maintain proper inventory levels in prep, serving, or storage areas.
- Assist with food preparation, cooking, and serving of meals as needed.
- Set up and break down service areas, tables, snack bars, and serving lines.
- Remove trash and participate in scheduled deep-cleaning projects.
- Support cooks and other staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations.
Requirements
- Must obtain and submit an Alaska Food Worker Card to your manager within 30 days of your hire date.
- Must have knowledge of proper food service sanitation methods and equipment.
- Must be able to speak, understand, read, and write English.
- Preferred six (6) months’ experience in the food service or janitorial industry.
- Preferred one (6) months of work experience or documented vocational training sufficient to demonstrate a knowledge of cleaning equipment, food preparation, and general cleaning processes.
- Must have a valid Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record for the past three (3) years to be eligible under NMS’ vehicle insurance policy.

Benefits
- A 30-minute daily break is required for all full-time employees.
- One employee meal is provided per shift (breakfast or lunch).
Pay
- Full-time role, 30–40 hours/week; shift times vary by location and school schedule (typically between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.).
Schedule & Flexibility
- Full-time role, 30–40 hours/week; shift times vary by location and school schedule (typically between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m.).
- Must be flexible to work at various school sites and cover shifts on short notice, often independently.
- Able to follow directions from cooks on-site while reporting directly to the General Manager.
- Reliable personal transportation is required, as assignments may change daily.
- Employees must maintain valid vehicle insurance, as well as cover their own fuel, maintenance, and related costs.
- If reassigned to another school after a shift has started, mileage will be reimbursed at the current federal rate with a submitted driving log.
Additional Info
- Must clock in/out from the assigned worksite within 5 minutes of shift start/end.
- Contract requires employees to speak, understand, read and write English.
