Food Service Worker ($18/HR + BENEFITS) - Anchorage Pioneer Home

Responsibilities

• Assists residents as requested with general information, inquiries, etc.
• Obtains products requested by residents.
• Washes objects by hand or with cleaning equipment.
• Prepares various food products following and observing standard food handling procedures.
• Cleans dishes, utensils, pots, pans etc. and places in assigned storage areas in an organized and orderly manner.
• Maintains a variety of products at certain levels in preparation, serving, or storage areas including service machines.
• Stocks storage areas with various products.
• Cleans, sweeps, wipes down, etc. all general dining, kitchen, or storage areas (in some cases), spike rooms, and equipment as well as all floors.
• Supports an effective Safety Program.
• Removes garbage from assigned areas, sets up or breaks down tables, snack bars, display cases, serving lines, etc.
• Affords assistance with various periodically scheduled large cleaning projects.
• Affords assistance to cooks and others as needed and coordinates one’s own activities with other’s.
• May occasionally prepare food or cook vegetables, entrees, coffee, sauces, meats, etc.
• Performs other duties pertinent to the department or unit’s success.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Preference will be given to candidates with at least six (6) months experience in the food service industry.
• Must have Food Handlers Card or ServSafe contingent upon 30 days of hire.
• Must have some knowledge of proper food service sanitation methods and equipment.

Contract Requirements

• Immunizations: TB.
• Language: Must be able to speak, understand, read and write English.
• Immune to Pulmonary Tuberculosis (TB).

Physical Requirements

• Lifts and/or moves up to 50lbs frequently.
• Sits, stands, walks, uses hands/fingers to handle or feel, climbs, stoops, kneels, crouches or crawls.
• Talks/hears, sees/tastes/smells, carries weight/lifts.
