Food Service Supervisor

Wage Rate: $20.00 per hour

This position supervises inmate labor and team members in a correctional facility’s food service operation, ensuring accurate and efficient preparation and serving of food items while adhering to food handling regulations.

Schedule

• Four days weekly with alternating weekends
• 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM (may extend to 6:30 PM)
• Must be available to work some weekends and holidays

Responsibilities

• Supervise inmate labor and/or team members during food prep and service shifts
• Prepare, assist, or instruct in the preparation of quality foods according to planned menus, recipes, and work instructions
• Ensure proper and sanitary food storage
• Serve food during planned meal schedules following department policies and procedures
• Utilize kitchen utensils and equipment to cook, prepare, and serve food according to recipes
• Use proper utensils to serve menued portions and meet clients’ nutritional needs
• Follow all food safety regulations pertaining to sanitation, food handling, and storage
• Train other food service workers
• Maintain a clean work area, including refrigerators, freezers, cooking equipment, and serving equipment
• Keep kitchen floors clean from excess food/trash and manage garbage collection
• Ensure the kitchen is ready for food prep/serving, including sweeping, mopping, and dishwashing
• Review proper portions and utensils for service
• Promote a healthy and safe work environment for employees and inmates
• Perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, kneeling, walking, and standing for extended periods
• Perform other related duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED and/or equivalent experience
• Must be at least 18 years of age
• Prior institutional food service or restaurant experience is preferred
