Food Service Substitute

About the role

This is a part-time, school year position with various hours beginning as early as 6 a.m. and no later than 2 p.m. Work is generally assigned several days in advance, though occasional same-day calls may occur. Must be flexible with scheduling.

Qualifications

• Some experience working in a food service environment preferred
• Experience working with children preferred
• ServSafe certified preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation and service of school meals
• Assist with daily cleaning of kitchen, cafeteria and food service equipment
• Monitor children in the cafeteria to ensure safety and order
• Other duties as assigned

Physical requirements and working conditions

• Reaching: Extending hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction
• Lifting: Raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position to position. Must be able to lift, push, pull and/or carry 20-50 pounds
• Grasping: Applying pressure to an object with the fingers and palm
• Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; activities where detailed or important spoken instructions must be conveyed to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly
• Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction, and having the ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and making fine discriminations in sound
• Repetitive motions: Making substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers
• The worker is subject to environmental conditions
• The worker should provide consistent and reliable attendance
