Food Service Specialist

About the role

Operated by Management & Training Corporation, the East Texas Treatment Facility in Henderson, TX, is seeking a Food Service Specialist to join their team. This role plays a vital part in a dynamic kitchen environment, where direct supervision of inmates in the dining area is essential.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize all food preparation equipment and ensure it is in safe and operable condition.
• Maintain kitchen equipment in an orderly, workable condition and ensure the work area is clean and sanitary at all times.
• Ensure the count and control of all kitchen tools, providing an accurate count at the start and end of each shift.
• Serve and prepare facility meals according to pre-planned menus, in compliance with MTC and TDCJ directives.
• Supervise inmates in the serving of meals as required.
• Perform mopping, scrubbing, refinishing, and spot cleaning of kitchen floors.
• Oversee the cleaning, sanitizing, and deodorizing of restrooms.
• Ensure accurate counts of all inmates assigned to the kitchen.
• Pull and prepare items needed for the next meal preparation.
• Work overtime when directed.
• Promote positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening in inappropriate behaviors.
• Maintain accountability of staff, inmates, and property; adhere to safety practices.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent, or GED.
• One (1) year full-time, wage-earning correctional, commercial, or institutional food preparation or food service management experience.
• Eighteen (18) months full-time, wage-earning correctional custody or law enforcement experience.
• Current valid ServSafe Food Safety certification within twelve (12) months of employment.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by management.

Pay

$18 per hour.
