Food Service Seasonal

About the Role

This position supports the operational aspects of Camping Services, representing Young Life in a Christ-centered, relational, and professional manner. The role involves assisting with guest services, housekeeping, food service, landscaping/maintenance, and retail duties.

Responsibilities

• Guest Services
  • Assist with program needs and equipment, including locating and constructing.
  • Handle property tasks such as firewood, lakefront, pool, maintenance projects, tours, camp prep, and shutdown.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Guest Services coordinator.
• Housekeeping
  • Assist in weekly building turnovers during housekeeping changeovers.
  • Uphold Young Life standards of cleanliness and proper cleaning procedures.
  • Clean bathrooms, sweep, vacuum, dust, and perform other cleaning tasks as directed.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Housekeeping supervisor.
• Food Service
  • Participate in food preparation and meal service.
  • Perform calculations for proportions and measurements.
  • Set tables, assist in meal clean-up (bussing tables, washing pots, operating washing stations, restocking equipment).
  • Operate within Young Life sanitation standards.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Food Service manager.
• Landscaping/Maintenance
  • Empty trash bins around the property.
  • Sweep or use a backpack blower to clean porches, basketball courts, and other areas.
  • Perform lawn maintenance (cutting grass, weed-eating, planting, watering).
  • Wash camp vehicles.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Sites and Facilities superintendent.
• Retail
  • Organize store and snack bar merchandise.
  • Operate the Point-of-Sale system and make change.
  • Process end-of-shift store/snack bar reports.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by the Retail manager.

Working Conditions

• Must be able to lift materials up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as stooping, reaching, pushing, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals and outdoor work in varying weather conditions (cold, heat, rain, snow).
• Job responsibilities may vary based on the critical needs of the property.

Requirements

• High school diploma.
• Previous work experience required; involvement with Young Life preferred.
• Ability to convey Christ-like hospitality and concern for guests and staff.
• Must respond to unexpected guest needs promptly and professionally.
• Ability to work with and minister to high school and college-age volunteers.

Pay

The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $15.25.

Schedule

This role is a seasonal position with an anticipated end date of November 25, 2026.
