Food Service Seasonal

About the Role
This position supports the operational aspects of Camping Services, representing Young Life in a Christ-centered, relational, and professional manner. The role involves assisting with guest services, housekeeping, food service, landscaping/maintenance, and retail duties.
Responsibilities
- Guest Services
- Assist with program needs and equipment, including locating and constructing.
- Handle property tasks such as firewood, lakefront, pool, maintenance projects, tours, camp prep, and shutdown.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the Guest Services coordinator.
- Housekeeping
- Assist in weekly building turnovers during housekeeping changeovers.
- Uphold Young Life standards of cleanliness and proper cleaning procedures.
- Clean bathrooms, sweep, vacuum, dust, and perform other cleaning tasks as directed.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the Housekeeping supervisor.
- Food Service
- Participate in food preparation and meal service.
- Perform calculations for proportions and measurements.
- Set tables, assist in meal clean-up (bussing tables, washing pots, operating washing stations, restocking equipment).
- Operate within Young Life sanitation standards.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the Food Service manager.
- Landscaping/Maintenance
- Empty trash bins around the property.
- Sweep or use a backpack blower to clean porches, basketball courts, and other areas.
- Perform lawn maintenance (cutting grass, weed-eating, planting, watering).
- Wash camp vehicles.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the Sites and Facilities superintendent.
- Retail
- Organize store and snack bar merchandise.
- Operate the Point-of-Sale system and make change.
- Process end-of-shift store/snack bar reports.
- Perform other tasks assigned by the Retail manager.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to lift materials up to 50 lbs. and perform physical tasks such as stooping, reaching, pushing, squatting, kneeling, and climbing.
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals and outdoor work in varying weather conditions (cold, heat, rain, snow).
- Job responsibilities may vary based on the critical needs of the property.
Requirements
- High school diploma.
- Previous work experience required; involvement with Young Life preferred.
- Ability to convey Christ-like hospitality and concern for guests and staff.
- Must respond to unexpected guest needs promptly and professionally.
- Ability to work with and minister to high school and college-age volunteers.
Pay
The anticipated hourly rate for this position is $15.25.
Schedule
This role is a seasonal position with an anticipated end date of November 25, 2026.
