Food Service General Worker

About the role

Chelmsford Public Schools is accepting applications for an anticipated Food Service General Worker vacancy for the 2026-2027 school year. The district reserves the right to modify or not fill this position based on staffing, enrollment, or budget changes.

Schedule

• 18.75 hours per week
• No nights, no weekends
• Summers off
• School holidays and breaks off
• Start time varies by assigned location and duties

Pay

$20.13 per hour

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food for Breakfast, Lunch, and Snack Bars (if applicable) following established recipes
• Operate kitchen equipment including ovens, steam tables, peelers, can openers, mixers, knives, grills, meat slicers, steamers, and point-of-sale machines/registers
• Cook meats, mix ingredients, wash and peel vegetables, open cans, prepare desserts, salads, and sandwiches
• Serve breakfast and lunches to faculty and students, portioning as instructed
• Clean and maintain work areas: scrape pans, wash pots and pans, sweep floors, clean serving tables, and set up stations with napkins, straws, etc.
• Transport food to and from coolers or refrigerators, store excess food, and clean all kitchen and snack bar equipment
• Attend required training meetings to stay updated on changes and improvements
• Perform other related duties as assigned or directed
